GO Go GO!!! :D You’ve seen my spreadsheet and goals (I think?) so I am totally and fully supportive of anyone wanting to make changes…

I have! I love the fact that you’ve put together a reward system for yourself based on very defined goals…ones where there’s no uncertainty about whether you have achieved them or not. :) We can cheerlead each other!

Go you! :D I tried something like this a while ago (habitrpg) but it really didn’t like me accessing it from a variety of different places (phone, tablet, work PC and home PC - it just couldn’t track). I’m just going to keep track of myself.

I tried HabitRPG as well but it just got too frustrating to manage. The awesome thing about the Nerd Fitness Academy is that it has Quests already set up for you, in increasing difficulty so that you can progress. It’s also got them split by Mindset, Nutrition, Fitness, and some for specific goals (strength, stamina, agility etc). I love it so far, and the fee covers lifetime membership with a lifetime money back guarantee. I feel like it could really work for me, as long as I don’t slip back into lazy and unhealthy habits and maintain focus on my goals. It also has community forums so if my motivation starts to slide I can speak to other people going through the same. :)

I expect weekly reports in my inbox. Or else… :D

I am totally happy to send you weekly reports, assuming I actually remember to (I am hopeless like that, haha). Maybe I’ll set myself a reminder. It’d be motivational to be reporting my progresses and setbacks to someone, I think! :)

Current Challenges

Right now I’ve committed to two different challenges. Technically, neither of them are quests for Nerd Fitness, but I did get the inspiration for one of them (Walk To Mordor) from there.

Challenge #1 - Zombie Run 5k Training
I started this two weeks ago. Basically, it’s the training app that leads into Zombies, Run. I aim to start on Zombies, Run once I complete this successfully. It’s an eight week program, and so far I’m really enjoying it. That might change once the runs get harder…haha!

Challenge #2 - Walk To Mordor
There is actually a quest called ”Walk To Mordor” from Nerd Fitness, but it’s basically just a challenge to walk every day for a week. They do mention that some of their members are logging every step they take to one day reach Mordor. The distance is 1779 miles (2863 km), and I’ve decided I’m going to challenge myself to get there. For now I’m only logging my actual workouts (daily walks and the Zombie training), but at some point I’m going to get myself a pedometer and log everything. I started logging two days ago, so sadly I’m only at 6.5 km (hahaha…only 2856.5 to go!) but I will get there, one day. Obviously, this is an extremely long term challenge.

On top of these challenges, I am going to get back into strength and weight training. At the moment, I’ll be starting with bodyweight training until my body is used to it again. I’m considering a huge change as a reward once I reach that point and am ready to get back into weights. I am thinking about clearing out my spare room…getting rid of the extra junk and the spare bed, and putting a weights bench and squat rack in there instead. It’s only an idea for now, but I’m thinking about it very seriously.

This is where I am starting. I only joined the academy two days ago, but the first several quests are relatively simple and I was already making an effort towards eating relatively healthy and exercising, so I could tick off a lot of the first sets of quests. If I remember, I want to post here each time I reach a new level, or when I complete a particularly difficult quest, reach a goal, etc.

So I think I already mentioned this, but I joined the Nerd Fitness Academy. Basically, I have been trying for years to get healthy and in better shape but I keep falling back onto bad habits. I’ve had enough of seeing little to no progress, or seeing progress swallowed up by my bad choices, so I’m trying to commit to a serious, long term plan.

I’m posting this here in an attempt to hold myself accountable for this commitment. Please, please, please…if any of you get curious, ask me how it’s going. If nothing else, it means I will have to seriously consider what I’ve been doing, if I’ve achieved any goals, if I’ve been slacking off, etc.

Also, if anyone wants to block any of my health or fitness posts (assuming I make any, that is…) I’ll be tagging them as In My Life: Level Up.

Rape Culture? What is this “Rape Culture” you speak of?Seriously though, this is terrifying. God forbid I wear a skirt outside — I’m just ASKING   to be raped if I do that.

The 58% statistic actually terrifies me more than any other. Suddenly change the word and you don’t care?
No one will ever be able to convince me that words hold no power.

this makes me sick to my stomach with anger and fear

I’m waiting for to see: “It’s only 83.5%, not all men are like that”

Wait, so only 16.5% of men know that rape is wrong and that no one ever deserves to be raped?
THAT is terrifying.
