Inner ramblings of a crazy yet lovable nerdgirl

I admire your persistence in making a box pleat skirt. I’d have just bought the fabric pre-pleated or sent it away to be permanently pressed into pleats. (Daughter of a seamstress - I’d have no idea that is even possible otherwise).

I’ve never managed to find pre-pleated fabric anywhere…if I had, that’s definitely the way I would have gone. I thought about doing regular pleats instead of box, to save myself the time, but I just think that box pleats look so much nicer.

As for sending it away to get permanently pressed…I did not know that was a thing I could do! I just use a water/white vinegar mix that I spray onto the folds as I iron them. It creases well that way and usually holds for a long while.

You know it’s almost winter by the way I turned the heating on just to try on the skirt I made.

Time for a long hot bath!

LOL - when they’re older and they want to dress up I’ll get them the appropriate makeup for that! (They’d probably dye their hair red by that stage as well…)

Well, there you go. A little hair dye and make up never hurt anyone, and it’s a much more humane way to cosplay. ;)

That is so awesome… (is it bad that if I ever go to something like that I want to put the boys in jumpers with an F and a G?)

Not bad at all! It’s only bad if you blast one of their ears off.

Okay so the first skirt is complete (if I never make another box pleat skirt again I’ll be happy because SIX FUCKING HOURS JUST ON THE PLEATS FUCK THAT SHIT), now there’s just another skirt and a cloak to make.

I definitely want to start the next skirt this weekend, but not tonight. Tonight I need to have dinner, take a nice long relaxing bath, and maybe see if I can get a little writing done.

I think it’s time to kill for our women

Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don’t we’ll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can’t make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one

“Rap is just noise”

Look at that terrible rap music, poisoning the minds of our youth.

Oh hey, I made a thing.

It’s a dark gray short box pleat skirt to wear with a white button up and Slytherin tie at LeakyCon. Yay!

A video in which PM of Australia Julia Gillard discusses sexism and misogyny displayed by Abbott, the leader of the opposition party.

This was in response to Abbott having stated that Mr. Slipper, should not be speaker (and allow Gillard to have majority government) because of sexist text messages that were uncovered.

I saw this post among the slew of comments on this Planned Parenthood post regarding the decision on the after 20-week abortions ban in Arizona.
It was nice to see a conservative man standing up to the anti-choice bullies on the page.

Coca-Cola’s long experimented with its vending machines, trying to make them more technologically advanced than the average soda-spitter-outer.

In the past, they’ve been known to give you a beverage only if you give them a hug, or if you dance or sing in front of them. Now, the beverage giant is attempting a much loftier goal: world peace.
